Facility Rules and Policies

In order to provide and maintain our wildlife refuge as a home for a variety of wildlife, we ask that you follow our rules and guidelines while visiting and walking our trails.

Trail Rules and Considerations

Refuge Hours: Trail and parking lot are open daily from sunrise to sunset, February 1 through November 30, for approved activities. From December 1 – January 31, trails are only open to refuge-permitted hunters.

Closed areas: While visiting, please stay on the trails. Obey signs and do not venture into closed areas. Please note specific annual trail closures due to Refuge waterfowl hunts and Oregon state hunts.

Pets: Pets are prohibited at the refuge in order to maintain habitat and minimize disturbances to wildlife. Please plan ahead and do not leave pets in cars, especially on hot days.

Biking and Running: The designated trails are for walking only; activities such as running and biking are not allowed at our refuge, in order to minimize human impact on wildlife and create less disturbance.

Collecting: Collecting of any kind is not permitted, including taking any materials such as flowers or feathers.

Wildlife Handling: Do not pick up or handle wildlife under any circumstances. While young animals may appear to be abandoned, there is a high chance that their parents are nearby.

Drones: Do not fly drones anywhere on the refuge.

Other Prohibited Activities: No fires, fireworks, fishing or unauthorized hunting at our refuge. Additionally, camping and overnight parking is not permitted.
