Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge

We have four paved trails that are wheelchair friendly, the Wildlife Loop, Woodland, Black Duck, Swan Cove Trails. Plus, the mostly flat terrain of Assateague Island makes navigating our trails with assistive equipment an enjoyable experience. Many trails also have benches to provide spaces to rest and enjoy the scenery. If you're here for a summer beach day, our partners at the Toms Cove Visitor Center loan out beach wheelchairs on a first come first served basis. You can contact them at (757) 336-6577.
