Hawaiʻi World Fish Migration Day

Join us at Heʻeia State Park to celebrate World Migratory Fish Day! World Migratory Fish Day is a global event to create worldwide awareness for freshwater migratory fish and free-flowing rivers. Many of our own islands native freshwater fish migrate between sea and inland streams to complete their life cycle. Oʻopu, the Hawaiian freshwater goby, as well as numerous other species such a ʻama and papio inhabit our estuaries and regularly transit between the mouth of rivers and the adjacent coral reefs. Volunteers will help remove invasive woody vegetation that severely restricts the waterway and provide hands-on assistance to help re-establish native riparian riparian
