Law Enforcement

Federal law enforcement officers work closely with state and local government to enforce federal and state hunting regulations that protect wildlife from illegal take and preserve legal hunting opportunities. These officers contribute in the successful management of refuge lands and maintaining high quality visitor experiences.

Federal Wildlife Officers are professional law enforcement officers entrusted with protecting natural resources and public safety. Law enforcement is central to the effective management of fish and wildlife resources on national wildlife refuges. Federal Wildlife Officers investigate crimes occurring on National Wildlife Refuges and crimes involving federally protected species.
