Scientific information sought to inform species status review of Pinyon jay

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published 90-day findings on petitions to list five species under the Endangered Species Act, including the Pinyon jay, which is found in portions of the Carlsbad Fish and Wildlife Office’s jurisdiction.

The Service determined the petition for the pinyon jay provided substantial information indicating the proposed action may be warranted. We will now initiate an in-depth status review of the species using the best available science and information to arrive at a 12-month finding.
