Butterfly conservation efforts
Across Southern California, habitat loss and fragmentation along with increased frequency of wildfires has reduced populations of some of our native butterfly species. The Carlsbad Office is working with partners to conserve habitat and, in some cases, to captive rear butterflies for release to the wild. Below are some stories about these efforts.
