Volunteer Position Overview
About This Position
This is a HALF-DAY event on September 12, 2026 at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers will clean out hunting blinds (pit blinds) of vegetation, cobwebs, excess mud, rocks, and trash, in preparation for the upcoming waterfowl hunting season. Tools for the work are provided, but volunteers are asked to supply their own work gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, and drinking water. It will be very hot weather and full sun exposure during the event without much shade. The event starts at 9am at the hunting check station off of Road 68, and arrival time is 9am. We will be staging at the hunt check station parking lot starting at 8:30. Work will end no later than noon, at which time we will head over to the refuge maintenance yard and have lunch provided (anticipated to be burgers and hot dogs). Refuge staff will be attending and we will give a short presentation about the refuge and upcoming waterfowl hunting season. LOCAL VOLUNTEERS ONLY for this 1/2 DAY event. RSVP no later than September 4, 2026.
