Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery was once again filled with festive fun and creative holiday spirit as families from all across Kentucky joined staff and volunteers for one of our biggest Open House events to date! With over 200 in attendance, the Visitor Center was jam-packed as participants circulated the various activity stations.
Guests of all ages were invited to enjoy nature-inspired crafts, holiday ornaments, giveaways, cookies & cocoa, and special visits with Santa. Crafts included tree cookie ornaments, reindeer candy canes, cardboard cut-out ornaments, DIY snow globes, and more! Many of the activities were supplied using recycled materials such as plastic berry containers, glass jars, cardboard, packing paper, etc.! In addition to snacks and activities, over 75 children were able to meet Santa! After sharing their Christmas list and posing for a photo, each child left with a special candy cane provided by Santa himself!
A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers for helping prepare and make this event run smoothly, and to The Friends of Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery, Inc. for providing supplies, snacks, a special discount in the gift shop, and a wonderful giveaway basket!
