Ways to Get Involved

Volunteering

Refuge volunteers offer their time, enthusiasm, talent, and skills, allowing the refuge to accomplish much more than would otherwise be possible. What do volunteers do?--a partial list:

  • Environmental Education with school field trips
  • Restore habitat
  • Wildlife Surveys
  • Control invasive plants
  • Give refuge presentations
  • Lead refuge tours
  • Provide clerical help
  • Update wildlife databases
  • Maintain trails and signs
  • Building and grounds maintenance

Whether you're in school or retired ... whether you require training or not … whether you can contribute a few hours per week, per month, or per year — we would like to talk to you about making a difference on the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
