A woman stops to take a picture as she looks out over a high grass field, while hiking on a trail at the Edisto Unit of the refuge. Large dark gray clouds have formed in the sky.

Walk the network of service roads, dikes and trails to discover the many wildlife species and plants found on the refuge. On the Edisto Unit, there are numerous wildlife observation points along wetland impoundments and river vistas, and about 25 miles of dirt roads and ricefield dikes open to foot and/or bicycle traffic on a seasonal basis.  The Combahee Unit also has a three mile service road for hiking from which you can view managed impoundments that support a myriad of wildlife.
