Doris Campground

This campground is a modern camping facility designed to enhance your visit to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge!


Individual Sites

***Doris Campground has reopened with a limited number of sites available. All camping will be by reservation only. Available campsites are reservable via Recreation.gov. Guests will be required to camp in RVs, travel trailers, or pop-ups with self-contained bathrooms. Tent camping will not be allowed at this time. Campsite check in will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. only. Check out is 12:00 p.m.***

Under normal operations, the campground offers a wide range of camping opportunities, including single unit camping (with or without electricity), semi-primitive camping, and group camping (with or without shelters and electricity). All campsites have tables, fire rings, and fire grates/grills on site. A centrally located restroom/shower complex is available year-round. Non-potable water, chemical toilets, and trash dumpsters are conveniently placed throughout the campground. Additionally, central dumpstation for RVs is located near the Campground entrance. All refuge regulations apply while camping at Doris Campground.

Facilities, Fees, and Reservations
 

As part of its ongoing efforts to address aging infrastructure and improve the visitor experience, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge has migrated Doris Campground to Recreation.gov.

Single-Unit Camping, 47 sites without electricity, for either tent or recreational vehicle campers ($14.00)

Single-Unit Camping, 23 sites with electricity only (No water at individual site), for either tent or recreational vehicle campers ($22.00 to $24.00 depending on location)

Semi-primitive Single-Unit Camping, 20 sites, for walk-in (Park vehicle, walk on trail to site) tent campers only ($12.00)

Shower fee for non-campers is $2.00.

Reservations are required via Recreation.gov before occupying a campsite. Maximum length of stay is 14 days. Overnight campsite occupancy is mandatory during the entire camping period.

A maximum of 8 people is allowed per Single-Unit Campsite, including a responsible adult 18 years of age or older. The maximum number of motor vehicles, recreational vehicles, and trailers per Single-Unit camping site including semi-primitive shall not exceed a combination of two (2). The combined length of the vehicles must not exceed the length of the parking pad. Extra vehicles may be parked in visitor parking lot. 


Pets
:

Pets are welcome! Please keep your pet on a leash (10 foot or less) with one end of the leash secured. All livestock are prohibited.

Doris Campground Group Sites

Three Group Campsites are available which will accommodate group campers with tent or recreational vehicles. Group Sites A and B have shelters with electricity inside the shelter and may be reserved for a fee of $40.00 per night. Group Site C is also available for reservation at a rate of $30.00 per night and does not have either shelter or electricity. Group Sites A, B, and C may be reserved through Recreation.gov.

Shower fee for non-campers is $2.00. 

Group sites may be reserved by groups of between 8 and 30 people per site. Reservations for the Group sites may be made up to three months in advance. The maximum number of motor vehicles, recreational vehicles, and trailers per group camping sites shall not exceed a combination of eight (8). Extra vehicles shall be parked in the visitor parking lot near the campground entrance. All refuge regulations apply while camping at Doris Campground.

Campsites must be vacated by 12 pm on the day the camping permit expires unless the permit is renewed before 2 pm and is consistent with occupancy and/or availability.  After 12 pm, another day will be charged.
