Wild Wonders: A Family's Weekend Escape to Nature

Are you tired of being bored? Not sure what to do? Kids itching to get out of the house? Then we have the perfect escape to nature, and just for you!

July 7th and 8th your National Wildlife Refuge in collaboration with Fort Union National Monument invite you to celebrate nature and get outdoors! We know that summers can be hot, windy, and often finding things to do that are fun and free can seem impossible. Well, look no further! Our July Weekend Event is free and includes things like a Night Wonders program, crafts, archery, face-painting, and a guided hike. So what does the weekend look like? See below!

Friday, July 7th

Join your National Wildlife Refuge and Fort Union National Monument for a very special Night Wonders Program, including a guided nature walk, face painting, and crafts!

Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center 

When?

7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Saturday, July 8th

Join your National Wildlife Refuge on a guided hike of Gallinas Nature Trail. Learn more about history, plants, and animals! 

Where?

Gallinas Nature Trail

When?

8:00 am - 10:00 am

Please arrive no later than 8:00 am, as hike begins promptly at 8:15am. There will only be one guided hike, so don't miss out!

What you will need:

- binoculars   

- sunscreen   

- snacks 

- a hat

- plenty of water

*Reservations are NOT required, please come as you are!*
