Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii – The Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) will be closed to the public on Friday and Saturday, August 24th and 25th in anticipation of approaching Hurricane Lane. Public operations at Kilauea Point NWR will cease Friday and Saturday with a possibility of early closure on Thursday, pending the storm’s location and intensity. Precautions are being taken to secure items and protect the property and various structures on the Refuge, including the Daniel K. Inouye Kilauea Point Lighthouse. Pending the outcome of Hurricane Lane, the Refuge will re-open to the public at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28th following the usual closure days of Sunday and Monday.
