Within Refuge boundaries, boating and kayaking are only permitted in the open water area of the refuge, not the salt marsh salt marsh
Salt marshes are found in tidal areas near the coast, where freshwater mixes with saltwater.

Public boat ramps are available at Bayfront Park and Pepper Park. Other marinas located in proximity to the refuge include Loew’s Crown Isle Marina, and two marinas in the Coronado Cays.
