A number of wildlife-dependent recreational opportunities are available to refuge visitors year-round including hiking, bicycling, wildlife observation and photography, fishing, and hunting during specified seasons.

With a diversity of habitat types, Harris Neck offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities year-round.

Two managed deer hunts are conducted on the refuge each year. The first is a three-day archery hunt in October; the second, in November, is a one-day shotgun hunt. Feral hog, coyote, and armadillo also may be taken during both of these hunts. Bag limit on deer is five, no more than two antlered...

Leave your vehicle behind and take a hike! The refuge's 20 plus miles of trails will get you a closer look at the refuge's freshwater ponds and historic sites.

Biking is permitted on Harris Neck's 20+ miles of trails, as well as the wildlife drive and is a great way to see the refuge.  Keep an eye out for cactus that grow on the refuge, especially on the old airfield runways, which could cause a flat tire.

Birdwatching is one of the most popular wildlife viewing activities on the refuge. Annual migrations along the Atlantic Flyway funnel hundreds of thousands of waterfowl, songbirds, and raptors through coastal Georgia. In the summer, colonies of egrets, herons, and wood storks nest in the swamps...

Harris Neck NWR's 4-mile, 1-way wildlife drive takes you through or near all of the refuge's habitat types and historic sites.  Pull over anywhere along the drive, lock your vehicle, and hike any trails you encounter along the way.
