Wetland Resources: New Mexico

Wetlands cover about 482,000 acres (0.6 percent) of New Mexico, a reduction of about 33 percent from the wetland acreage that existed about 200 years ago. New Mexico's wetland acreage places the state 34th in total wetland acreage among the 48 conterminous states.
