Study Objectives

Collect field data from historical and potential lake trout spawning areas in Lake Erie and identify areas of potential spawning habitat based on the presence or absence of environmental characteristics similar to those associated with historical lake trout spawning sites in Lake Erie. Then use these data to identify and prioritize potential high-quality lake trout stocking sites in Lake Erie followed by development of preliminary linkages and connections between potential lake trout spawning and nursery habitats.
