Sharp-tailed Grouse Search April 2 - May 15

Sharp-tailed grouse and prairie chickens once were abundant across western Minnesota. However, their numbers are in decline. We and our partners at Pheasants and Quail Forever, the Minnesota Sharp-tailed Grouse Society (SGS), and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are interested in searching a few high priority areas to better understand prairie grouse populations and habitats in southwestern Minnesota.

We are looking for volunteers to join the search from April 2 - May 15 that will extend from southwestern Traverse County down to western Lincoln County, MN.

If you are interested in helping with this effort, please email Refuge Biologist Brandon Semel (brandon_semel@fws.gov) for links to maps and sign up information.
