Calling all youth 15 years of age and younger! Stop by the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center (1101 Casey Rd.) to check-out fishing equipment to take out onto the refuge at designated fishing areas! All fishing poles, bait, lures, etc. are free to borrow for the day! Youth must be 15 years of age or younger to fish without a license. Junior Ranger Fishing Booklets will also be available to grab! Anyone 16 or older is welcome to come and fish but must have a license.
Date and Time: Saturday, June 3rd from 9am-3:00pm (equipment pick-up/drop-off), general fishing is allowed sunrise to sunset when the refuge is open.
Location: Equipment pick-up is at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center (1101 Casey Rd). Youth may fish at the designated fishing areas; we recommend Ringneck Marsh.
Activity Level and Accessibility: Easy, can involve walking and standing. An ADA accessible fishing pier is available at Ringneck Marsh.
What to Bring: If you have equipment, youth may bring their own fishing poles and we can provide bait! All equipment can be . borrowed from the visitor center at no cost. This program is held entirely outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather. Bug spray and sun block suggested Cancellation notices will appear on Facebook and this website in the case of bad weather.
