Have you been cooped up inside for too long? Spread your wings and join Rangers Bre and Hunter at Columbia National Wildlife Refuge for a December bird walk on Friday, December 15th.
The hike will depart from the Rimrock Trailhead on Morgan Lake Road at 9 a.m. and return no later than 11 a.m. We will not be hiking the entirety of the Rimrock Trail, only a 2-mile section. We will be hiking about one mile down the trail and then taking the same route back to the trailhead. Participants are welcome to continue to hike the rest of the trail, if desired, or return to the trailhead with the rest of the group.
Please bring your own binoculars, if you have them; we only have a couple extra pairs available. Don’t let a cold day fool you—please bring plenty of water and snacks to keep nourished along the way. Please wear appropriate footwear as the hike does gain a bit of elevation, and the trail has loose rocks and uneven surfaces. Dress for the weather, wear a warm coat and bring along a warm beverage if you’d like!
If you have any questions about the event, feel free to reach out to Ranger Bre at breanna_hild@fws.gov or call 509-488-6965.
