Introduction to ArcGIS Online (AGOL)

Target Audience: 

Natural resource professionals who want to use web GIS to collect data, create maps and share data.  

Summary and Objectives: 

This course is for AGOL beginners and starts with a high-level overview of the ArcGIS Online system of applications, credits, sharing properties, user types, user roles, and licensing capabilities. The training will then focus within the pre-configured ArcGIS Online environment. Students will learn to search, load, view, symbolize, and configure pop-ups for layers using the ArcGIS Online Map application. Students will learn how ArcGIS Field Mapper Applications are integrated with ArcGIS Online, and students will learn how to edit and view data collected in the field environment inside of the ArcGIS Online environment. Finally students will learn how to include web maps in web applications, how to configure web-applications, and how to create simple StoryMaps.  

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:  

  • Search for available data on ArcGIS Online. 
  • View and configure layers using the ArcGIS Online Map Viewer. 
  • View, edit, and utilize data collected in the field. 
  • Create and configure web applications. 
  • Create a simple StoryMap.
