$7,700 Reward Offered for Information Regarding the Illegal Killing of a Grizzly Bear in Boundary County, Idaho

Boise, Idaho – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) are seeking information regarding the illegal killing of a federally listed threatened grizzly bear north of Perkins Lake (Boundary County, Idaho) near the Idaho/Montana border that was shot on or about October 28, 2025. The Service is offering up to a $7,000 reward and Idaho’s Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) is offering up to a $700 reward for any information that leads to an arrest, a criminal conviction, or civil penalty assessment.

On October 28, 2025, Service staff received a mortality signal from the attached collar of the female bear. Service staff and IDFG officers investigated and determined the grizzly was shot in a manner indicating it was not a threat to the shooter.

The Service and IDFG are conducting a joint investigation.
