About Kate Watts

Kate Watts is the Eagle Coordinator and Raptor Biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Pacific Region. She works with stakeholders to balance human activities and raptor conservation, develops regional and national policy with a focus on eagle risk modeling and technical resource development. Kate began her career with state agencies and NGOs before joining the Service in 2011, serving in roles from Humboldt Bay and San Luis National Wildlife Refuges to leading recovery efforts for 32 listed species at the Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuges. She holds a B.S. in Biology from New York University and an M.S. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Delaware, and has published extensively on nesting ecology, population dynamics, disease impacts, and innovative field techniques
