Event Details

Mammoth Spring National Fish Hatchery (MSNFH) recently hosted its annual Holiday Open House Event in partnership with the Friends of MSNFH on December 7th, 2024. The event took place at the Aquatic Conservation Center and Aquarium, which was beautifully decorated with lights, fake snow, ornaments, trees, and garland. Santa even made an appearance to chat with the kids and asked if they've been good this year. Volunteers from the Friends Group and Mammoth Spring School District helped provide cookies, and delicious drinks like hot cider, hot cocoa, and coffee.

Fun Activities

One of the most exciting activities at the event was in the environment learning classroom of the Visitor Center. Students and Hatchery staff helped kids and parents create holiday ornaments using natural materials like pinecones, tree branches, walnuts, acorns, and other outdoor items found locally. The classroom was decorated with snowflakes, poinsettias, and holiday chains made from recycled paper.

Community Fun

The Holiday Open House Event is a great way for the community to come together, have fun, and learn about the environment. Approximately 200 people attended the event, marking it a success. By offering free cookies and fun activities, the event attracted several visitors and introduced them to the Hatchery and its information. It's a fun way to promote Conservation through Education.

Happy Holidays from all of us at Mammoth Spring National Fish Hatchery!
