Wild Turkey Line Up

Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge has wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo). Pictured below is a large family flock walking the refuge.

The phrase 'let's talk turkey,' means an honest and direct discussion. But there's another less well know aspect to talking turkey, and that has to do with their oddly named parts - caruncles, beard, snood, dewlap, fan, spurs and wattle, are all turkey features in a language that requires most people look them up if they wonder what are those parts.
