Barred Owl

One of the more commonly seen birds on Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge is the barred owl (Strix varia). Barred owls feed on mice, rabbits, squirrels, frogs, small birds and a variety of other creatures as they become available. Barred owls don't migrate and stay fairly close to their home their entire life.
