Time to Fly

It the time of year that many migratory waterfowl leave Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge and return to their breeding/nesting homes. Snow Geese (Anser caerulescens) are some of those waterfowl species soon to leave the refuge. Snow Geese spend most of their year in the northern central U.S. as well as Canada and Alaska. They are vegetarian and load up on plant food, eating just about any part of the plant: leaves, roots, stems & seeds.
