Kodiak Refuge Sets Application Dates for 2004 Karluk River Limited Entry Permits

Free Refuge permits will be required for recreational activities on Koniag Easement Lands within one-half mile of Karluk River and Karluk Lake in 2004. Depending on when and where you plan to visit, you must obtain either a Limited Entry Permit or a Registration Permit. Limited Entry Permits are required for use of easement lands along the Karluk River from June 10th through July 15th, which coincides with the peak of the king salmon run. During this period, total daily use will be limited to 28 unguided and 42 guided visitors. Registration Permits must be obtained for use of riverside lands during the remainder of the year, and for use of lakeshore lands during the entire year.

To qualify for a Limited Entry Permit, all unguided parties must submit an application to the refuge. The application period for the 2004 Limited Entry season runs from November 3, 2003 through December 15, 2003. Party leaders can apply online at .listserv@www.fws.gov">.
