Haines Swan Killings Solved
A juvenile resident of Haines was fined recently for shooting and killing two trumpeter swans at mile 11.5 of the Haines Highway, in late October. A high level of mediaattention after the dead swans were found by local residents, coupled with other circumstances, recently caused the individual to come forward to local authorities. The individual stated he had intended to eat the swans and claimed he did not know that there was no hunting season for trumpeter swans.
