Mule Pack Males Captured in New Mexico
Mule Pack alpha male #190 and one of his yearling offspring #578 were captured yesterday on state land northwest of Silver City by Mexican wolf recovery field team member Alan Armistead. Trapping efforts continue for the other yearling male (#580) in the same area. The trio dispersed away from the packs alpha female when she began denning during the first week of April. The captured males are being taken to Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge south of Albuquerque. The alpha male will be reunited with his mate as soon as possible. Holding the yearlings at Sevilleta will hopefully cause the male to focus on his mate and pups.

The Mule Pack female produced this years first known wild born pups in the Chicken Coop-Creel Canyon area of the Gila Wilderness.
