Overview

Cyanea dolichopoda, a member of the bell flower family (Campanulaceae), is endemic to Kauai, 1 meter (3.3 feet) tall with an erect, glabrous, unbranched stem with no thorns. Asymmetric leaves are ovate or oblong, 6.5 to10.0 centimeters (2.6 to 3.9 inches) long, 3.7 to 5.8 centimeters (1.5 to 2.3 inches) wide with a green glabrous upper surface, and a light green lower surface, with scattered hairs along the midrib and a 9 to 16 centimeter (3.5 to 6.3 inch) long slender glabrous petiole. The 8 to 11 flowers are spreading or pendent and sparsely arranged. While in bud the corolla is pinkish and glabrous. Fully expanded flowers, fruits, and seeds have not been seen.
