Grazing Opportunity for Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge

Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson County, Colorado, has an opportunity for grazing on up to 580 acres for five years (2023-2028). These lands were previously owned by the State of Colorado Land Board and are often referred to as “Section 16” of the refuge. The rdoes not guarantee that the cooperator will have access to water for grazing purposes. GMOs and neonicotinoids are prohibited, and all pesticides must be pre-approved under a permit.

To receive consideration, completed applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. MT on April 30, 2022.

The application form, maps of the proposed cooperative agriculture area, and supplemental application instructions are available on the refuge website or by hard copy at the refuge. Applications can be submitted via email to megan_klosterman@fws.gov or by mail to Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge, 6550 Gateway Road HQ, Commerce City, CO 80022.

The producer(s) will be selected through an open, transparent and competitive process in which applications will be scored and ranked by objective criteria, including operating in Adams, Jefferson, or Butler County and ability to provide in-kind services. All applicants will be notified by June 15, 2022.
