Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge is seeking qualified bidders to obtain a Special Use Permit (SUP) to purchase decked logs from the Olsen Creek contingency line log decks. The primary purpose of this project is to reduce fuel loading from a shaded fuel break that was constructed on Refuge lands. This project will require the loading & hauling of logs from established decks by a qualified logger using tracked processors and/or log loaders. Lengths range from 16’6 to 33’s with the majority in 33’s. This activity must be completed prior to the start of machine grooming on Olsen Creek Road.

The log decks are located within the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge, on Olsen Creek Road, as follows: Township 35N Range 42E Sections 20-21, Stevens County, W.M..

Access to these units is provided by County and Refuge roads. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service will accept sealed bids, on the appropriate bid application form, at the Little Pend Oreille NWR Headquarters Office, 1310 Bear Creek Road, Colville, WA 99114 until 9:00 AM, Friday, October 10th. At 10:00 AM a public bid opening will be conducted. All bids must be received by 9:00 AM at the above specified location and contain all information specified in the application. All sealed envelopes must be clearly marked Olsen Creek Deck Sale of Natural Resources. The Special Use Permit (SUP) to be issued to the successful bidder contains a section entitled Special Conditions regarding method of harvest, utilization, and timing of operations, road use, stewardship obligations and other requirements for the successful execution of the permit. Prospective bidders are encouraged to contact the Refuge for additional detailed information, bid applications and to request tours of the sale areas.
