Exceptional hunting opportunities await sportsmen and women at Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge, well known for a large deer population and good-sized bucks. The refuge has designated seasons for a variety of small game, waterfowl, turkey and deer, including special opportunities for youth and disabled hunters. To hunt the refuge anyone aged 16 to 64 must purchase a Hunting and Fishing permit.  This permit may be purchased from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks online or at any outlet that sells hunting or fishing licenses.  The permit is listed as the "North MS NWR Permit" or #606 and acts as an add-on to a license.

Out-of-state turkey hunters traveling to Mississippi in 2023 should be aware that the State is continuing the Nonresident Public Land License Endorsement again this season. Nonresident hunters are required to obtain this special, no-cost Public Land Endorsement in addition to other regularly required licenses when hunting any open public lands between March 15-March 28.
