Mississippi River Flooding Limiting Boat Access

The Winona District near Winona, MN has closed several boat landings due to high water blocking vehicle access. These landings include: Beef Slough and Pontoon Slough located on Hwy 25 between Wabasha, MN and Nelson, WI; Halfmoon located near Kellogg, MN; and Verchota on the Prairie Island Dike near Minnesota City, MN. We urge all boaters to take be aware of quickly changing river conditions. Refuge personnel are constantly evaluating river conditions to determine when refuge boat ramps need to be closed and re-opened.
