Dunlins and Western Sandpipers gather every Spring to eat small invertebrates in the rich mud on the shores of Kachemak Bay. Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival, which has existed since 1993, celebrates the return of the migration every year on the weekend closest to the 8th of May.
