Chuckwalla Lizard at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge

Chuckwalla (Sauromalus obesus) is the largest of the lizards on the refuge and is present in all of the mountain ranges. Although extremely wary, the chuckwalla can often be seen sunning itself on top of distant boulders. It is strictly a vegetarian.
