Wallowa Mountains Bull Trout Spawning Reports

Bull trout were listed as threatened under the ESA in 1998 due to declining populations.  The USFWS recommends monitoring populations in subbasins where little is known including the Grande Ronde and Imnaha Subbasins.  Redd counts have been conducted for eight to nine years in the project area; however, a minimum of 15 years is needed to determine population trends.  Surveys are conducted in selected streams within Lostine, Bear, and Big Sheep Creeks and the Imnaha River in the Grande Ronde and Imnaha Subbasins.
