Ways to Get Involved

Neosho National Fish Hatchery is supported by our friends group, The Friends of the Neosho National Fish Hatchery. If you would like to be more involved, please consider joining our friends group. More information can be found on the friends group Facebook group.

Volunteering

Volunteering opportunities are offered through the Friends of the Neosho National Fish Hatchery. We also offer job shadows for students by appointment.

Our Partners

Neosho National Fish Hatchery works closely with the Missouri Department of Conservation to provide rainbow trout for recreational anglers in Lake Taneycomo. We also work closely with the Ecological Services division of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and all of the surrounding four state conservation agencies on endangered species recovery projects.

Outreach

The hatchery accepts volunteers to help with our three outreach fishing derbies. We also offer educational programs with our partners, The National Park Service, and Missouri Department of Conservation.

Education Programs

The hatchery offers guided tours, educational programs, and citizen science events to school groups by appointment. We usually hire at least one high school student during the summer under the Youth Conservation Corps program.
