Many families take their loved ones who live in nursing homes on Sunday drives through the refuge. Some of those families stop at Swallow Hollow where they take those individuals for a stroll on the boardwalk in their wheelchairs (there is handicap accessible ramp for the boardwalk). Bob Confer, a local nature columnist, will be leading such families on a nature hike at Swallow Hollow, affording them the opportunity to enjoy nature and learn about local plants and animals. Due to space constraints, this stroll is limited to 6 wheelchair users and up to 2 assistants per wheelchair user. For that reason, advanced registration is required
