We’re excited to invite you to attend Patuxent Research Refuge's Urban Wildlife Conservation Day! This special day is an opportunity to celebrate our connection to the outdoors and inspire everyone to experience the many benefits of nature. The celebration will be on Saturday, October 5th from 10AM to 2PM.
This year, we have a fantastic lineup of activities planned at the Patuxent Research Refuge, including:
- Archery: Test your skills and learn about this exciting outdoor sport.
- Free Guided Kayak Tours: Experience the beauty of our waterways up close. Sessions start at 9:30AM (Walk in), 11AM (Registration Required), 12:30PM (Registration Required), 2PM (Walk in), 3:30PM (Walk in). Sessions will be held at Cash Lake.
- Obstacle Course: Challenge yourself and have fun with friends and family.
- Live Birds: Get a chance to see and learn about local wildlife.
- Campfire Storytime: Stories read by your local librarian around a campfire. No registration required, sessions start at: 10:30AM, 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30PM.
- Grand Opening of Our Story Trail: Enjoy a unique outdoor reading experience that connects literature with nature. Our ribbon cutting ceremony and marshmallow roasting will be held at 11AM.
