A national wildlife refuge is typically a contiguous area of land and water managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service  for the conservation and, where appropriate, restoration of fish, wildlife and plant resources and their habitats for the benefit of present and future generations of Americans.

! We'll have archery and BB gun target shooting, fishing on our pier, casting practice, kayaking, face painting, touch tables with pelts and skins, kids' crafts, nature sketching, live animals from the refuge and local bays, and more! Kids can even try their hand at putting out a "fire" with our refuge fire crew. We are partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife (Goose Island State Park), Texas Master Naturalists, International Crane Foundation, Manomet, Welder Wildlife Foundation, and the Friends of Aransas NWR. The Tivoli Volunteer Fire Department will have lunch for sale and Roughriders 4-H will be selling yummy treats! For more information, call 361/349-1181.
