Intro to Hiking: Bass Ponds

With Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge covering over 14,000 acres, there are more than 45 miles of trails to discover! Join us for our intro to hiking series as we explore the trails together. No prior experience needed and no special equipment required.

Date and Time: Saturday, November 9^th from 9:30am-11:00 am

Location: Bass Ponds - 2501 86th St. E, Bloomington, MN 55425

Registration Information: 10 walk in spots available and 15 spots open for voluntary registration through Signup.com.

Activity Level: Medium-active, we will walk a good walking pace and make some stops.

Meet Us: Meet us at the upper parking lot kiosk at Bass Ponds.

What to Bring: Good walking shoes, water, and bug spray/sunscreen if you have it. Monitor weather forecast and be prepared for the temperature and precipitation. A cancellation notice will be sent via email to registered participants in the event of severe weather. If you are not registered, please monitor our website, SignUp, or MeetUp page.

Accessibility: Restrooms are located at the lower trailhead, a short but steep downhill walk from the parking lot. This walk takes place on mostly flat ground on a paved service road, wooden boardwalks, and natural surface paths. Depending on seasonal trail conditions, natural surface paths may not be suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. There are no benches or rest areas along the route. Persons who cannot travel the steep hill from the upper to the lower trailhead on foot may receive a gate code to drive down to the lower lot.
