USFWS General Permit Eagle Mitigation Calculator

USFWS General Permit Eagle Mitigation Calculator

Wind energy general permits for eagle take include a requirement to compensate for the take of eagles. For wind energy general permits, you must obtain eagle credits from a Service-approved conservation bank or in-lieu fee program based on the hazardous volume of the project (in cubic kilometers). Required eagle credits for general permits must be obtained within 90 days of the effective date of a permit. Compensatory mitigation is not required for wind turbine infrastructure that existed and was operating in its current configuration and size prior to September 11, 2009.
