About Zak Pohlen

Zak began working with birds for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service as seasonal avian technician in Washington in 2011 and found his way to the Division of Migratory Bird Management in Anchorage in 2017. Zak coordinates the Alaska Landbird Monitoring Survey (ALMS) on National Wildlife Refuges in Bird Conservation Region 4 and implements various monitoring and research projects at U.S. Air Force installations throughout the state. When not in the field, Zak maintains the Avifaunal Database for Alaska Military Lands (ADAML) and MBmove, a tool to visualize live migratory bird tracking data collected by our program. When not working, you will find Zak birding, participating in citizen science (eBird), and encouraging others to do the same. A simple action we can all do to help #BringBirdsBack.
