U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service seeks comments on draft environmental assessment for the Erie Marsh Preserve Coastal Wetland Restoration Project

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for The Nature Conservancy, is seeking public comment on a draft environmental assessment. The Erie Marsh Preserve is a privately-owned component of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge.The goal of the project is to complete a four-phase restoration project focused on wetland management and invasive species invasive species
An invasive species is any plant or animal that has spread or been introduced into a new area where they are, or could, cause harm to the environment, economy, or human, animal, or plant health. Their unwelcome presence can destroy ecosystems and cost millions of dollars.

control.The proposed project will completed the final two phases of the project, which will restore hydrologic and ecological connectivity between Lake Erie and approximately 946-acres of coastal wetlands of the Erie Marsh Preserve. This environmental assessment was prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act that applies to the actions of all federal agencies.The draft environmental assessment evaluates both the proposed action for phase III and IV and no action alternatives.
