The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in partnership with the Ionia Conservation District, Village of Lyons, Ellen River Partners, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Central Michigan University and Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure, Inc., will host an open house from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Fire Station in Lyons, Michigan, to receive input and comments from the public as part of an Environmental Assessment (EA) on the environmental impacts of the proposed removal of Lyons Dam.

The EA under consideration will evaluate two proposed actions as pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process. These actions are:
- No Action: Leave dam/fish ladder in-place, maintain current water level above Lyons Dam.
- Dam Removal with Restoration: Dam removal. Actions would include the removal of eight feet of the dam, closing off and filling the fish ladder, filling the raceway pond and restoring the high-gradient habitat of the Grand River.
