Leading experts from around the globe will convene in Anchorage January 14-16 to discuss what they do best: mapping the worlds circumpolar vegetation.
The scientists are working under the auspices of the International Working Group for the Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF), which formed in 1992. The Working Group represents the eight arctic nations and takes an Eco-system approach to protecting natural resources of the earths arctic region. Comprehensive vegetation mapping, assisted by high technology processes such as satellite imaging, provides invaluable information to help delineate ecosystems.
Representatives of the press are invited to attend a summary briefing and see the latest maps from these efforts at the following time and place:
