The contest is separated by
age groups: Adult (18 and
above) and Youth (17 and
below)
Each age group may submitted to either of the following categories:
Wildlife (Mammals,
Birds, Reptiles/Amphibians, Spiders, Insects, etc…)
Plants and Plantlike Organisms / Landscapes (Wildflowers, Fungus, Lichens, Ponds, etc…)
The photos will be displayed the Refuge’s Facebook
page (via link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZB57ZHX).
Credit will be given to each of the contestants once the voting process
has been completed. The public will vote online for their favorite photos in
each of the categories. Voting will take place August 3- August 10. Certificates and prizes will be awarded.

- All
entries must be photographs taken at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge or
Green Point Environmental Learning Center.
- Up to three entries (total) per person may be submitted.
Each age group may submit entries in either or both categories (i.e. 3
submissions in Wildlife OR 1 submission in Plants and 2 submissions in Wildlife,
etc…). A youth is considered anyone of age 17 or below.
- All photos must be submitted in an electronic copy (please
send the highest resolution possible). Black and white photos are acceptable.
Photos may not display the name of the photographer on the front of the
photograph.
- The electronic copies may be emailed to shiawassee@fws.gov. The subject line should read “Photo Contest”. Entries will
be accepted until July 20th.
- Please attach a signed permission form with your contact
information – each photo needs a signed form. Any photos lacking a signed form
will be disqualified. (Note – three ways to submit form: 1. electronically sign on PDF, 2. print, sign, and scan signed form,
or 3. print, sign, and take photo of
signed form)
- Photos that have been altered to combine two or more photos,
use replication, or have added details will be disqualified.
- Notifications for disqualified entries will be made prior to
voting.
- If a minor is pictured in a photo, an “Agreement of Use of
Likeness in Service Products” (USFWS form 3-2260) must accompany the entry
forms. It can be found at (http://www.fws.gov/forms/3-2260.pdf).
- All entries will be retained by the Refuge and may be used
for a variety of reasons including but not limited to publications, webpages,
and presentations.
- While extreme care will be taken in handling all entries,
the Refuge cannot be responsible for any damage to photographs.
