The Service works closely with our state partners at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to track and monitor the Columbia Basin pygmy rabbits. Here, biologists are scanning a rabbit for a PIT tag. Passive Integrated Transponders, or PIT tags, are tracking tags that do not require power. Instead, they have an internal microchip that is activated when it passes close to a special antenna.
